Hello Viewing Gallery! Your group will explore things to see or view with our own eyes to help us remember the First World War and keep the memories of First World War Veterans alive.
What are the things we can see or view with our own eyes? Events, art and movies are popular ways to remember. Remembrance Day ceremonies, remembrance movies and films, video and audio interviews with Veterans and war art are all very effective ways to remember.
Your Task
Go to Remembrance Day ceremonies, watch movies and look at art to help you learn about the First World War and First World War Veterans. Be active and create your own visual remembrance tool. Your group will come up with your own artwork or short skit about remembrance.

LOOK AT SOME ART FROM WORLD WAR I:
- As a group discuss how you want your artwork to look or what your skit will be about. Will it be about the First World War? Will it be an image of Canada's last known First World War Veteran or a dramatization of his life or the life of another soldier of the First World War? Will it focus on war, peace or remembrance? Will it focus on Veterans?
- As a group write down your ideas or prepare rough drawings.
- Next, transfer your artwork onto the poster paper, using markers and/or pencil crayons to colour it in. If you are working on a skit it should be very short, no more than 1-2 minutes long.
- When you are finished present your artwork or your skit to the whole group.
